THE LATEST NEWS

NYIHA has joined two major groups focusing on Haitian-Dominican Relations. Dr. Steeve Coupeau now serves on the Coordinating Committee of the Dominican Coalition in Solidarity with the Haitian Community in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Coupeau is also on the Coordinating Committee of the Haitian and Dominican Action Group.

NYIHA MEDIA contributor And Fouad received the Second Prize of Haiti-Tribune's "Konkou Kreyol 2005" for his poem entitled "Se Zetwal Ayiti Mwen Vle".
Dr. Steeve Coupeau delivered the lecture "The Crisis in Hispanola: Which Way Forward" at Hispaniola: Voices of its People Echoing Freedom!!": 1st Annual Haitian-Dominican Open Forum at Columbia University, April 29th, 2006.
Dr. Steeve Coupeau delivered the keynote address at the launch of Caribbean Week 2006 by the Caribbean Students Association of the City College of New York. The presentation entitled "Assessing Caribbean Contributions to American Culture and Society" focused on the period between 1900 and 2006.

NYIHA WELCOMES NEW WRITERS

NYIHA MEDIA welcomes to its ranks several new contributors . Arts and Culture writer, Ruth Moyse, received a Bachelor of Arts’ degree in journalism from the State University of New York at Purchase. While learning journalism at Purchase College, Ms. Moyse published regularly in two student newspapers. After her May 2005 graduation, she wrote for both the Haitian Times and Caribbean Life in New York City.  NYIHA also published an article by Dr. Kumar Mahabir on Caribbean Indian Actors in Cinema. Dominican-American writer, Mark A. Torres, also wrote a column entitled Haitian-Dominican Corner.

REVIEW OF PRODUCTS

In 2005, NYIHA formally entered the music distribution market by representing Costa Rican singer Sasha Campbell. Sasha's new CD, Soulmate, is an intoxicating fusion of Hip Hop, Jazz and R&B.The CD is available through our website.
